～文字に刻まれた記憶と始まり～
TEN-YOU GUMI,ancient character artist group.

古代文字とは？
今から約3300 年前、中国・殷の時代 ( 日本の 縄文～弥生時代) 神と王との交信( 占い) を記録するために作られた、特別で神聖な文字です。
現在の「漢字」の源といわれています。
天と地が神梯（はしご）でつながり、至る所に神が宿っていた時代、古代人は畏敬（いけい）の念を持って自然を、生死を、受け入れていた。
その精神が、文字の形態に込められています。
250 年の間に生まれた3000 文字の中に、7 万とも言われる現代の漢字のルーツが必ずあります。

天遊組とは？
古代文字アーティストとして自由に飛び回る天遊さんのさまざまな側面に魅せられた、普段は別の顔をもつ、アーティスト集団です。
紙・ＷＥＢなどデザインを仕事にしている人、IT プロフェッショナル、英語の先生、音楽の先生、ばりばり働くキャリアウーマン、時にはフラメンコを踊ってしまう素敵な秘書、日本全国を飛び回って笑顔を伝える人etc..。

What’s TENYOU GUMI?

古代文字アーティストとして自由に飛び回る天遊さんのさまざまな側面に魅せられた、普段は別の顔をもつ、アーティスト集団です。
紙・ＷＥＢなどデザインを仕事にしている人、IT プロフェッショナル、英語の先生、音楽の先生、ばりばり働くキャリアウーマン、時にはフラメンコを踊ってしまう素敵な秘書、日本全国を飛び回って笑顔を伝える人etc..。
みんな天遊組のアーティスト。

What is Ancient Characters?

What is Ancient Characters?
About 3,300 years ago, in the Shang Dynasty in China,the
communications between God and King were recorded with
sacred characters, which were also called divination.
They are the origins of current Chinese characters, “Kanji” .
In those days the Heaven and the Earth were connected with
a ladder,God was found everywhere and people accepted the
nature, life and death in awe.
Such ancient spirits are symbolized by Ancient characters.
The roots of tens of thousands of modern Japanese
“Kanji” are certainly found in the 3,000 characters.

Greetings
First of all, we sincerely thank you for your presence and sharing time with us at our 11th exhibition.This is the 5th year for us to join“ Ueno-Yanaka Art Link” event since we started our activity in 2006 at Tenno-ji, in Yanaka.
During this period, thanks to those who support us, TEN-YOU GUMI could have been growing and had numbers of chances to introduce our work to both National and International scale. These experiences tell us that picturesque ancient kanji letters has boundless possibilities to connect people through our heart beyond Nationality or any cultural background.
In ancient time, human beings know how to associate with nature and live with awe.However, we human beings have been forgetting it and became too arrogant towards Nature.The event of 3.11 in North East Japan was turning point for us to aware significant issue instead of tremendous lost of dear to us.
After 3.11, I was invited a few live performances and exhibitions which were held in France and New York. I received a lots of support, donation and heartfelt messages by people in both places. I was very touched people’swarm hearts and at the same time, l was noticed that how we are likable nation through their impression towards us.We have changed our theme for this year’s exhibition after the event of 3.11 and titled as“ 3.11 for TEN-YOUGUMI”. Each member looks into their deep in mind and expresses on the ancient letters what we learned from 3.11. So, please take your time to meet each message from us on 3.11. If you wish, please talk to us. We would like to share our message on it with you.
“Never do the same as before” – this is our continuous challenge for TEN-YOU-GUMI ’s exhibition and we are grateful to have 11th exhibition today. We shall keep challenging together with our member and friends who encountered through our past activities. Therefore, we highly appreciate your continuous support and please keepin touch with us.…if you wish, let’s join us!

Concept：
After the Great East Japan Earthquake – Tsunami on March 11, I read Hannya
Singyo.
All Physical phenomenon are marked with emptiness: they do not appear nor
disappear, are not tainted nor pure, do not increase nor decrease.
It greatly expanded my world of art ancient character.

Ancient Characters are primary source of our inspiration to draw these calligraphy art. 　

Started“TEN-YOU-GUMI” CalligraphyArt Group at Buddhist temple.
TEN-YOU has successfully organized an exhibition at Japanese Embassy of New Zealand.
2008 During one month, Ten-you First exhibition at Tokyo. And more exhibition.

About Ancient Chinese Characters
Ancient Chinese Characters refers to those characters found on turtle shells, bones or bronze inscriptions from the time of “Yin” or “Shang” dynasty(17th BC – 11th BC), one of the oldest Chinese in the historical record. “Shang writing” is directory ancestral to the modern Chinese script. Turtle Shells and bones are often used in order to record the oracle between God and King.
Those ancient characters were sacred and contained a lot of special meanings.
It was a time when heaven and earth met through the ladder of oracle between God and King.
Ancient people were showing much reverence and thankfulness to the nature and lived in it with harmony, accepting both life and death as natural cycle.
It is remarkable to know that there are only 3,000 characters initially that are the root of most of the contemporary Chinese characters, which currently exist around 50,000. As for Japanese people, it is fascinating to find out original meaning of one’s name that has been derived from these characters.

書　体：図　象
書　家：不　詳
時　代：殷代（B.C.1300 頃～ B.C.1070 頃）
殷代には甲骨文のほかに、当時作られていた青銅器（金属）に鋳込まれた文字があり、
これを「金文」 といいます。 殷代の初期金文は、「図象記号」「図象文字」「族記号」と
呼ばれるマークのようなもので、祖先の諡（おくりな）などを記しているものが大半
でした。
文字として読み下すことが困難で、果たして何を表すものなのか解明されていません。
臨書制作：G+G

書　体：甲骨文字
書　家：不　詳
時代：殷（いん、紀元前1300 年頃）
現在発見されている最古の文字。亀の甲羅（腹部）に彫られており、王族が占いを行った
際の結果を記すために使われたという。つまり、民衆の物ではなく、神との交信の結果を
表すために使われたとても神聖な文字である。
特徴：甲羅に彫られているので、刻んだあとが見える。筆で書かれたようなやわらかい線
ではなく、刻まれた厚みを感じる細く強い線が特徴。
その後、殷代末期になると短い文章が記されていきます。そして、西周へ受け継がれると
徐々に洗練され多字数化していったと言われています。
臨書制作：門（沼田康可）

書　体：金　文　（青銅器に鋳刻された銘文）　　
時　代：西周初期（庚王の時代）　ＢＣ１０世紀
特　徴：小臣宅殷（しょうしんたくき）
銘文「 隹五月、壬辰、同公才（在）豊。令（命）宅、事白（伯）父。白（伯）
易（賜）小臣宅・・・」
西周初期の書体の特徴は、商代晩期の「波たく体」を踏襲している。
これは恐らく「殷の後裔」の工人集団を使っていたためであろう。
太い画筆で、整斉な構成が特徴。
臨書制作 ： 渡邊 麗子

書　体：泰山刻石　小篆書
書　家：宰相　李斯　（りし）の書と伝えられている。
時　代：紀元前２１９年（始皇帝　２８年）
始皇帝はそれまでの戦国の世を統一し、石に銘文を刻んで広く民に詔（詔勅）を発し
自らの権威を示した。歴代の皇帝が封禅の儀を行った「泰山｝で銘文を建てた。
戦国時代ばらばらに使用されていた文字を秦で使われていた篆書の字体を整理して
「小篆」いう字体を作り、全国で統一して使うようにした功績大である。
臨書制作：堺　祥子

書　体：木簡【急就篇】より第一觚( こく)
書　家：史　游( しゆう)
時　代：前漢時代（ＢＣ100 年頃）【急就篇】は、文字学習の為の当時の教科書。
内容は姓名、衣服、飲食、器用などに分類されており、三言、四言、七言などでそらんじ
誦し易いよう韻文で編まれている。幅23ｍｍ（漢代の一寸）× 長さ360ｍｍの木材を対角
線で縦割りにした、直角二等辺三角形の柱状の『觚( こく)』と呼ばれる木の各面に書かれ
ている。
特　徴：文字は右方に波状にはね出す波磔が流麗な隷書であり、
書き手の息遣いと特徴が如実に現れている。
臨書制作：西 由起子

書　体：乙瑛碑（いつえいひ）
書　家：不詳
時　代：永興元年（西暦153）。山東省曲阜市にある孔子廟内に設置されている。
碑の大きさは182×86cm、18 行で毎行40 字から成る八分隷の典型である。
「魯相乙瑛置孔廟百石卒史碑」が正式な呼び名で、その内容は魯の前相・乙瑛が孔子廟に
管理官を常設したいという主旨の上奏文を記したものである。
特　徴：乙瑛碑の書は、どっしりと力強く、筆力も雄健で緊張感があります。
左右のはらいや一つ一つの文字の構成が非常に緻密に構築されており、その一貫した造
形美に乙瑛の安定感と説得力が表現されています。
文字を写しながら、「腹に力が篭る。」そんなエネルギーを感じました。
臨書制作：麻奈

書　体：張遷碑（ちょうせんひ）
書　家：不詳
時　代：中平3 年（西暦186）。
明代初期に山東省東阿県で出土。1964 年に泰安の岱廟炳霊門内に設置されている。
315×102cm、本文は16 行・毎行42 字から成り、その内容は張遷の善政を頌えたもの。
特　徴：張遷碑は、異端児扱いされることが多く、一定の規則的な筆使いが見られません。
書くたびに姿が変わる自由で気楽な奔放さがあり、他の漢碑とは異なる不調和の美を
かもし出しているこの書体を面白いと感じる方も多いようです。
臨書制作：風子

書　体：曹全碑（そうぜんひ）
書　家：
時　代：中平２年（１８５年）建碑。
石碑。陝西省（せんせい省）
